May 12, 2023, is the 15th anniversary of the Wenchuan Earthquake and the 15th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in China, with the theme of "Preventing Disaster Risks and Protecting High-Quality Development". The torrential downpour outside the window and the ear-splitting thunder seem to be reminding everyone not to forget the tragic moment of 14:28 15 years ago. The earthquake was one of the worst natural disasters in the history of China and had a huge impact on many parts of the country.
Fifteen years on, people still remember history, honour the dead, pay tribute to rebirth and move forward with courage.
The best way to remember is to struggle, and the best way to console is to act. Popularise knowledge of disaster prevention and mitigation, raise awareness of safety precautions, and strive to reduce disaster losses, starting from small things, starting from me!
